XYZ Graphics Promotes Entertainment Industry Veteran Joe Takai to Managing Director of the Los Angeles & Boulder Studios

XYZ Graphics, a leading creative services, image creation and post-production studio, is proud to announce today the promotion of Joe Takai from Managing Director, LA to Managing Director of XYZ’s Los Angeles, CA and Boulder, CO creative studios.
With this promotion, Takai will continue driving the strategic vision of the studios and lend his immeasurable support to existing and future clients.
“As we see continued growth in the Rocky Mountain region and beyond, I will be looking to Joe and his proven leadership to showcase XYZ as the leading industry pioneer in the creation of still and motion imagery,” said Steve Waterloo, XYZ President.
Joe Takai brings decades of experience working with such entertainment industry leaders as: Warner Bros., Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), and Digital Domain. At Warner Bros., Takai served as the Visual Effects Supervisor for The Matrix Reloaded & The Matrix Revolutions. While a Creative Director at ILM, Commercial Division, he worked with Fortune 500 clients including: AT&T, Safeway, and FedEx. As Director of Production Engineering at ILM Takai successfully ran the digital technology engineering and operation teams for feature films: Star Wars: Episode 1, Artificial Intelligence and Saving Private Ryan. And as the Senior Manager, Digital Technology for Digital Domain, he ran the technology group for Feature films including: Titanic, The Fifth Element and Dante’s Peak to name a few.
“My first year as Managing Director for XYZ LA has been such a great experience. I look forward to bringing the Boulder studio to the next level of distinction.” said Takai. “It will be a pleasure collaborating on the high caliber of work that is being generated throughout the Colorado market.”
Takai is the past chairman of SIGGRAPH Computer Animation Festival and Electronic Theater and an alumnus of California State University, Fullerton where he majored in Computer Science.
