XYZ is Honored With Awards From The International Academy of The Visual Arts
Gold And Silver Davey Awards for Washington State Lottery & Happy Endings

San Francisco, CA – XYZ was recently honored with a gold and silver statuette by The International Academy of The Visual Arts with a Davey Award.
The Davey Awards exclusively honors the “Davids” of creativity, the finest small firms, agency and companies in the world. David defeated the giant Goliath with a big idea and a little rock the sort of thing small firms do each year. The annual International Davey Awards honors the achievements of the "Creative Davids" who derive their strength from big ideas, rather than big budgets.
Gold was awarded to a Washington State Lottery campaign completed for Seattle based advertising agency Publicis West. Working closely with Art Director John Meyer and Print Producer Sarah Jones XYZ’s creative team: designed, photographed and retouched a unique take on the traditional cowboy pie-plate belt buckle.
The silver award was given for XYZ’s collaborative project Happy Endings. The artists that participated in the project included Doug Adesko, Eva Kolenko, Olivier Laude, Hamin Lee, Jason Madara, Andrew Nagata, and Zen Sekizawa. Each artist adapted an end frame of a narrative, film, or pop culture reference, and was encouraged to twist the ending to bring a new interpretation to the story. XYZ’s digital artists worked closely with the photographers to develop and expand their image making process.
“This project really allowed me to stretch my imagination,” said Hamin Lee, Photographer. “Having a creative team to collaborate with was a dream.” ”Working with XYZ’s was like having an west coast extension to my Toronto studio.”
