XYZ Presents Happy Endings Photography Exhibit at Aftermodern Gallery in San Francisco
Hosts 1st in a Series of Collaborative Art Projects with Top Photographers, Highlighting XYZ's Creative Capabilities
June 11, 2006
San Francisco, CA – XYZ, the West Coast’s most dynamic independent creative retouching and post production studio, today announced the opening of Happy Endings, a collaborative art project and photography exhibit from XYZ and select national photographers. The invitation-only opening reception will be held on June 29, 2006 from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm at Aftermodern Gallery, located at 445 Bryant Street, and the exhibit will be open for viewing on an appointment only basis until September 1, 2006 at XYZ San Francisco studio located at 270 Brannan Street.
“By hosting this exhibit, the first in a series of collaborative endeavors with select photographers nationwide, XYZ wants to showcase the amazing creative community that we come into contact with everyday,” said Steve Waterloo, President of XYZ. “We have the privilege of working with some of the best talent in the country and this is our way of saying thank you.”
The artists participating in Happy Endings include Doug Adesko, Eva Kolenko, Olivier Laude, Hamin Lee, Jason Madara, Andrew Nagata, and Zen Sekizawa. Each artist adapted an end frame of a story, film, or popular culture reference, and was encouraged to twist the ending to bring a new interpretation to the story. XYZ’s digital artists worked closely with the photographers to develop and expand their image making process. In addition, all work created for the show was printed at XYZ using their new Durst Lambda printer, which combines the advantages of traditional photography with the latest digital technology.
“One of the great aspects about art directing this project has been XYZ’s ability to work with photographers all over the country and make them feel as though they were sitting next to one another in the studio,” said Suzanne Shade, Art Director. “Most of the work was done remotely, but XYZ’s workflow and scheduling allowed for a smooth transition between digital artist, photographer and myself. Overall it was a great experience.”
